Inventory for its own sake does not survive
A pantry list that only tells you what is in the pantry is a chore with a screen. Households abandon them somewhere in week two, usually right after a big shop, and the abandoned list is then actively misleading.
The pantry is the input, not the product
In Heilsa the pantry exists because recipe coverage and the shopping list both read from it. Every item you add makes the dinner answer better. That is the payoff that makes the upkeep worth doing.
Capture built for the moment after a shop
Adding items is quick, and AI capture turns a messy list of what you bought into structured rows. Nothing is saved until you have reviewed it, so speed never costs you a pantry you cannot trust.
Honest about what it does not recognise
When Heilsa cannot match something you typed to an ingredient it knows, it says so and leaves the item out of coverage rather than guessing. A wrong match is worse than a missing one.
Questions
- Do I have to scan barcodes?
- No. You can type items in, and AI capture will structure a batch of them for review. Barcode scanning is not part of the product today.
- How much upkeep does it need?
- The realistic rhythm is a few minutes after a shop and the occasional item marked used up. Coverage still works when the pantry is imperfect.
