Cook with what you have
Searching by one ingredient gets you a list. Knowing what your whole kitchen can make gets you dinner.
Ingredient search asks the wrong question
Typing "chicken" into a recipe app returns dishes that need eleven other things. The useful question is not which recipes contain an ingredient, it is which recipes your household can complete right now.
Coverage, not keywords
Heilsa checks each recipe against the pantry and sorts by what that leaves: cook now, nearly there, or missing something important. It is one lookup against what you own, so it stays fast as the catalogue grows.
The same ingredient by any name
Courgette and zucchini are the same vegetable, and coriander the herb is not coriander the ground spice. Heilsa resolves the names your household actually uses, so matching does not fail on vocabulary.
Staples are assumed, not counted
Nobody should lose a dinner suggestion over salt. Common staples are treated as present, so coverage reflects the ingredients that genuinely decide whether you can cook something.
Questions
- How many recipes are there?
- The catalogue is deliberately small and growing, weighted toward dinners and toward dietary profiles that were measured as thin. Depth where it is used beats breadth nobody cooks from.
- Can I add my own recipes?
- Yes — typed in, or read off a photo of a page or card. Household recipes get the same pantry coverage as the curated ones.
Where else it helps
- What is for dinnerHeilsa answers what is for dinner from your household pantry: what you can cook now, what is nearly covered, and what is missing.
- Reduce food wasteMost household food waste is quiet: things bought twice, or forgotten at the back. Heilsa keeps the pantry visible so it gets cooked.
- Shared shopping listA shared grocery list that knows why each item is on it, and puts what you buy back into the pantry when you get home.
- Pantry inventoryA shared pantry for households that pays for its own maintenance by driving dinner decisions and the shopping list.
